Privacy Policy

1. Summary
SimplePlay2000 is a desktop audio application that runs locally on your computer. It does not upload your audio files, show files, or recordings anywhere. The only data we collect is what is strictly necessary to operate your license: an email address (for receipts and renewal reminders), payment information (handled entirely by our payment processor, not by us), and a hashed hardware identifier used to enforce the activation limit on your license key.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Email address — collected during purchase by our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) and shared with us so we can send receipts, license keys, and renewal reminders.
- Payment information — collected and processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We do not see or store your card number, CVV, or billing address. We receive only the fact that a payment was made and your email address.
2.2 Information collected automatically by the Software
- Hardware identifier (hashed) — when you activate the Software, it derives a hashed identifier from your computer's hardware and sends it to our licensing service. This hash is used to enforce the two-device activation limit on your license. The hash is not reversible back to specific hardware details and is not linked to your real-world identity.
- License key validation requests — the Software periodically checks whether your license is still valid. These requests include the hashed hardware identifier and license key but no other personal information.
- First-seen timestamp — on first activation, we record the timestamp so we can correctly count the 7-day trial period and prevent trial-reset attempts.
2.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect, upload, or scan your audio files.
- We do not collect, upload, or scan your show files (
.sp2k). - We do not collect your recordings.
- We do not track which features you use inside the Software.
- We do not include analytics, telemetry, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers in the Software.
- We do not sell your data. We do not have a data-broker relationship of any kind.
3. How we use your information
- Email: to deliver your license key, send receipts, send renewal reminders, and respond to support requests.
- Hashed hardware identifier: to enforce the activation limit on your license key.
- First-seen timestamp: to correctly track your trial period.
We do not use your information for marketing beyond the renewal reminders and product-update emails associated with your subscription.
4. Third-party services
4.1 Lemon Squeezy (payment processing)
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy. They are the "merchant of record" — they collect payment information and handle PCI compliance. Their privacy policy is available at their website. They are subject to GDPR, PCI-DSS, and other applicable regulations.
4.2 Email infrastructure
Receipts, license keys, and renewal reminders are sent via standard email infrastructure. Specific provider details will be published here when finalized.
4.3 Website hosting
Our website (the one you're reading this on) is served from a standard web hosting provider. The host may log standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, request path) for operational and security purposes. We do not use these logs for tracking or analytics.
5. Data retention
- License records (email, hashed hardware ID, payment status) are retained for as long as your subscription is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for tax and audit purposes.
- You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@simpleplay2000.com. Deleting your license record will also invalidate your active license.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California). These may include the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@simpleplay2000.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
7. Security
We take reasonable, industry-standard precautions to protect the limited personal data we hold. License keys are stored in secured databases. Hardware identifiers are stored as one-way hashes. Transmission between the Software and our licensing service uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to minimize the data we hold so that the impact of any incident is limited.
8. Children's privacy
SimplePlay2000 is a professional audio tool not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Software or via the email address associated with your account. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
